As their name implies, sandhill cutworms prefer sandy soil. Like other cutworms, they damage a wide variety of plants by cutting them off at the base.
Sandhill cutworms are light brown in color and have faint white lines running the length of their body.
Like many other cutworms, sandhill cutworms cutoff small plants below the soil surface, killing the plant. The result is reduced stand and corresponding yield losses.
Insecticides can be used to treat sandhill cutworms. Always read and follow all label instructions.
