Gibberella ear rot is caused by a fungus that also infects stalks. It is closely related to fusarium ear rot. Besides directly reducing yield through damaged kernels, it can produce mycotoxins which are dangerous for humans and livestock.
Gibberella ear rot is red or pink in color and begins at the ear tip and works down.
